PSYCHOTHERAPY
Our primary focus is psychotherapy. We both have a Masters degree in Applied Psychology (Clinical) and have 14+ years of work experience in diverse settings- hospitals, private clinics, child development centers, NGOs, community work settings, and crisis counselling centers, and currently, we run an independent private practice. We work with clients in the 20 to 45 age group, with a wide range of concerns such as those around identities, body image and health, relationships, familial conflict and trauma, parenting as well as childfree individuals/ couples, and workplace stressors. While our primary therapeutic orientation is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, we blend it with Emotionally Focussed Psychotherapy, and Humanistic and Existential lenses. Our expertise is in Feminist Counselling ( we even wrote a book about this "Feminist Psychotherapy in the Indian context"), Queer Affirmative Counselling (we have published a paper on this), and trauma-focussed interventions, drawn from our extensive experience working with survivors of gender based violence and with queer clients.
Advaita Nigudkar
I am a Mumbai-based psychotherapist with over 15 years of professional experience. My training is rooted in clinical practice, and my work focuses on supporting adults between the ages of 25 and 55 through a range of emotional and interpersonal challenges.
My therapeutic approach is primarily grounded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), with a strong emphasis on understanding each client’s belief systems—how they are formed, and how they shape everyday thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. I believe that human behaviour cannot be understood in isolation, and I place significant importance on the personal, relational, and socio-cultural contexts that influence it.
A central goal of my work is to help clients develop deeper self-awareness, enabling them to make more intentional, aligned decisions in their lives. In recent years, I have also integrated elements of existential therapy into my practice, supporting clients as they navigate concerns related to meaning, uncertainty, the state of the world, and anxiety about the future.
I work with individuals facing concerns such as low self-esteem, difficulties with assertiveness, and interpersonal challenges across family, workplace, and social relationships. My approach is informed by a socio-political lens, incorporating feminist, queer-affirmative, and trauma-informed perspectives. I have a particular interest in areas such as body image, the choice to be childfree, and the psychological impact of living with chronic pain. I also support clients through pre-marital counselling and post-marital relationship challenges.
At this stage in my practice, I value working with clients who are open to reflection and willing to engage actively in the therapeutic process. Therapy can be deeply rewarding, but meaningful change often comes from consistent effort, curiosity, and a shared commitment to the work.
I view psychotherapy as a collaborative and evolving process—one that requires patience, consistency, and care, but can lead to meaningful and lasting change.
Outside of my practice, I am a passionate gardener and cook. I enjoy going on long walks, playing video games, and reading. I am also an avid follower of pop culture, current events, and developments in technology and gadgets. Additionally, I am actively involved in community initiatives focused on animal welfare, particularly Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) efforts to support and sustainably manage community animal populations.
Jagruti Wandrekar
I have 15 years of work experience in myriad clinical and psychosocial settings. Intersectional feminist psychotherapy is the central framework guiding my work. My therapeutic approach is eclectic, blending trauma focussed and queer affirmative Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Emotionally Focussed Therapy, with humanistic and existential principles. I believe in building egalitarian relationships in therapy rather than using a top down approach.
I work primarily with the 20-45 year age group. My expertise is helping to navigate challenges faced by LGBTQIA+ individuals, and helping to heal from domestic violence, sexual assault, childhood trauma and neglect. I work with persons navigating anxiety, PTSD, depression and mood disorders. I also work on relationship-related challenges for monogamous and polyamorous persons.
My approach is suitable for those who want to learn coping skills for their concerns, while also developing deeper insights into their emotional and relational patterns. I strive to build an understanding of the impact of social context and conditioning on ways of looking at the world. The ultimate goals of therapy according to me are empowerment, strengthening one's agency, and building a more intentional life consistent with one's own values.
In my spare time, I am a voracious reader, and enjoy going on nature trails and wildlife expeditions, tending to my herb garden, watching horror movies, and spending time with my two boisterous cats.
